Making Time by Saving Time

Saving Time in the Kitchen

Yes, convenience foods like prewashed, trimmed veggies are more expensive. Rightfully so, as time is money. So when these items are on sale - take advantage of them and give yourself a break that week!

Try making your own convenience food. Prewashed salad mixes can be easily made and stored in large resealable bags. (Just make sure that the lettuce is throroughly dried!) Buy snacks in bulk and divide into smaller portions yourself.

Aluminum foil can be your new best friend! Try it for lining cookie sheets and casserole dishes to make cleaning up easy.

Need to toast a lot of bread at once? Place bread slices down on a cookie sheet (single layer) "toast" in the oven for a few minutes at a low temp to avoid burning, flip and repeat.

Does the bulk and weight of kitchen appliances like stand mixers and food processors keep you from using them? Take back these timesavers by putting those small plastic slider disks on the bottom of the appliances. These are often sold for chairs and furniture in the hardware department of stores, but work great for sliding heavy appliances across tile or kitchen counter tops.
