Saving Money on Clothing

Clothing costs is an area of a family's budget that you can control directly. Below are a few ways to make sure you save as much as possible and make what you do spend go even farther.

Ladies - Try the men's department! Things like t-shirts and shoes can be purchased at a great price and are built to last longer!

Buy next year's clothing now! At the end of each season, clothes go on clearance so that room can be made for the new arrivals. Purchasing clothes now for next year means that you'll not only have what you need when you need it, but you'll avoid paying full price.

Constantly finding stains on the front of your shirt? Keep a bottle of stain remover near your hamper. By spraying stains as soon as you take the clothing off rather than when you do laundry means you have a better chance of saving the garment!

Does it seem like you're constantly buying clothes for your kiddos? You probably are - and at full price! Start shopping thrift stores or sales racks for clothing in future sizes now. By purchasing in advance, you can take your time to find nice, clean clothing at thrift stores and great clearance prices at department stores.

Teach by example that different clothes are for different situations. When you get home from work, change into comfortble "house" clothes. This will help your little ones learn to change into play clothes when coming home from school. This habit will help keep both your wardrobes nicer longer.
